Food and Nutrition Department:
The breakfast program will be featuring a brand NEW item for the next 2 weeks:  a frozen fresh fruit and yogurt bark. A delicious and nutritious take on a frozen Popsicle or ice cream, this new breakfast item has a lot of essential nutrients to offer our student’s minds and bodies. The bark is filled with protein packed vanilla Greek yogurt, hydrating and fiber-filled berries, and is topped with whole grain crunchy granola. In addition to breakfast combo meals, the kitchen will be offering a homemade apricot oat breakfast bar. This lovely, healthy treat will keep you feeling full and satisfied with lots of long lasting energy from whole grain complex carbohydrates. The beautifully orange colored apricot contains powerful antioxidants, beta carotene, and vitamin C. It is naturally a great source of fiber. An amazing effect of fiber is that it helps the body have a slow, constant release of energy throughout the school day. Start the day off with a bang and don't miss out on these healthy, wholesome NEW breakfast items.

The hot lunch program will be featuring a new local meatball with whole grain pasta, marinara sauce and roasted zucchini coins on Thursday the 23rd. These meatballs are sourced from Pineland Farms in Gloucester, Maine.  Locally sourced foods are fresher, more flavorful, better in quality and nutrients, and help to reduce our carbon footprint. It also puts money back into our local communities. https://pinelandfarms.org/

COLLEGE PREP:  WILL YOUR TEEN BE READY?
Prep Your Child For Social Pressures in College Without Being A Lawnmower Parent

MONDAY, MAY 20TH FROM 7-8PM AT THE BEDFORD LIBRARY
This event is open to parents, guardians and teens.

It’s never too early to start prepping your son or daughter for college.  But we are not talking about academics here. Learn how and what to share with your kid about the current college social scene and social pressures.

Sheila Lambert, owner of New Life Counseling and Wellness Center, will present to parents and teens on how to navigate the social pressures of college life.  With her previous experience in Higher Education as the Director of the Wellness Center and Chairing the CARE team at Southern New Hampshire University, she will review ways to talk to your kid about expectations around alcohol use, describe existing social norms and pressures in college and hear the latest data about drinking and drug use at nearby universities.  Also learn how “overparenting” can lead to culture shock for your kid and how it may adversely affect them once in college.

If you were unable to attend any of our previous Speaker Series Events, most of them are posted on our website. Check them out at BeBOLDbedford.org!
