From the Principal:
iRules: What Every Tech-Healthy Family Needs to Know About Selfies, Sexting, Gaming and Growing Up.
The Bedford High School Counseling Department is thrilled to welcome international speaker, Janell Burley Hofmann, to campus on Thursday, April 6th! The author of the original iRules Contract will workshop with students throughout the day and will present “Parenting Generation Tech: Educate, Empower, Engage” to parents that evening. This free event will begin at 6:00pm in the BHS Theater and is open to the community.
Janell Burley Hofmann is the author of the book, iRules: What Every Tech-Healthy Family Needs to Know About Selfies, Sexting, Gaming and Growing Up. She is also a speaker and consultant on topics like technology, media, health, relationships and personal growth. Janell Burley Hofmann engages readers, clients and audiences in relevant and meaningful conversations igniting personal empowerment, awareness and purpose. Janell serves families, schools and communities in a partnership that will positively impact the lives of children and teens. She is a two-time TEDx presenter and was a featured speaker with SxSW. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Good Morning America, USA Today, National Public Radio and thousands of international media outlets.

Destination Imagination State Tournament
Bedford DI welcomes New Hampshire Destination Imagination (NH-DI) State Tournament to Bedford High School on Saturday, April 1st, 8AM – 6PM.  There is a snow date for Sunday, April 2nd, but please check website for up to date information and a schedule of events.
NH-DI will be hosting the event where the top scoring teams will be competing for a chance to go to Destination Imagination Global Finals in Knoxville, TN, with almost every state and 20 countries.  Destination Imagination is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning.  Participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process.

Attention 8th Grade Parents
The 8th Grade Parent Information Night has been rescheduled to May 22nd, at 6:00pm in the BHS theater.  This is an opportunity for the parents of rising 9th graders to hear about life as a ninth grader and ask questions about the high school experience.
Host Families Needed: Taiwan Sister School
BHS is hosting our sister school from Taiwan from Saturday May 13th through Friday May 26th.  We need host families for the 20 visiting students.  If you're interested, have a look at the items linked below and then complete the form to be a host family.

Bedford Community Hall of Fame
The Bedford Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations for induction into the newly formed Bedford Hall of Fame. This is your opportunity to recognize those individuals who have made a positive impact on yourself, your family, your children and your community.  Graduates, Teachers and Bedford Community members are eligible for consideration into the HOF.  Nominations are due in May 2017. Lost and Found
Parents, Students, and Staff, If you have lost something be sure to check the lost and found!
  • If you have lost clothing, coats, bags, books, etc. please look in the bins located by the concession stand in the Gym hall.
  • If you have lost smaller items such as a wallet, keys, calculator or phone stop in the main office and we will assist you.

Bedford High School ​Graduation set for June 10
We are proud to announce that the students in the class of 2017 at Bedford High School will be graduating on Saturday, June 10, at 10:00am rain or shine!

From the Counseling Department:
State mandated SAT's for juniors are on April 5th and will begin promptly at 8:00am!
  • Students must bring their BHS ID, only #2 pencils, a calculator
  • NO backpacks, food, drink, phones, novels or homework
  • Testing is in the BHS gym
  • Arrive at 7:30am
  • Snacks will be provided
  • Students can leave BHS after the administration is complete (no class S4)
  • Students can choose which colleges to send their scores to. Students can send four for free (but this offer is only good for nine days after the test!)
Summer Program- If you elected to take one of the Summer Personal Finance courses (Enrichment or Hybrid Enrichment), please register for summer school! This is the second step of registration, after selecting a summer course during course selection in February. Course dates, times, payment information, and the online registration form can be found here.

From the Library:
  • Yearbooks can no longer be ordered online. There 80 yearbooks left to purchase. They are first come, first serve. $75 check or cash can be brought to the library to secure a 2017 yearbook.
  • The Bedford Handmade Fair to support the Class of 2018 is November 5th, please see our website for more information!
  • Follow the Bulldogs of Bedford to keep up on the exciting community art project!
  • Log into your library account anytime with your student ID and password to check your account.
From the IB Coordinator:
Exam Update:
We are continuing to input the grades for students’ Internal Assessments (IAs) for all IB terminus courses.  If students have not completed their assigned IAs, please know that the IB deadline for input is April 10, after which no late work will be accepted.  Most teachers have collected, graded and reported on these IAs already.  If students are unsure about the status of their own IA work, please have them contact their classroom teachers right away.  Students should also continue to check their emails regularly just in case additional requirements are needed.  Just as a reminder the Exam Schedule is posted on the IB at BHS website under the Exam information tab.

Community Service/Career Exploration/Cultural Enrichment
Organization: Bedford Historic Society and Stevens-Buswell Community Center
Description: Volunteers are needed to help plan, participate in and host a Vintage Fashion Show! Proceeds from the show will go towards the efforts to renovate the Stevens-Buswell Community Center.
Organizational Meeting: April 5th, 2:45pm
Event Date: Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 in the BHS Theater at 6pm.

Community Service
Organization: Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), Greater Manchester
Description: Join the Kids’ Fun Committee and Volunteering at NH PMC Kids Ride. Volunteers are needed to both plan and help out at the event. Activities to include helmet decorating, face painting, photo booth, etc. The Fun Committee will plan and coordinate the activities!!
Dates: Kids Ride Event: June 4th, 2017 7am-1pm (including set-up/break down)

Calendar  2017-18 ​
As families start planning for next year, we thought it would be helpful to share the 2017-18 School Calendar. The first day of school for students is Tuesday, August 29.

From the PTG:
To help celebrate the beginning of Spring, the PTG surprised staff and students with yummy brownies on Thursday. A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who donated brownies, they were a big hit and helped brighten everyone’s day!
Join us Thursday April 6th at Shorty’s in Bedford. Every first Thursday of the month Shorty’s will give the Bedford PTG 15% of all sales when patrons show this flyer or simply let your server know you support the PTG. Good on Dine-in and Take-out, all day long!
The Bedford PTG is proud to co-sponsor an upcoming community presentation featuring professional speaker Ed Gerety. Ed Gerety, one of the top professional youth speakers in the country, will be doing a 60 minute program for parents and their child focusing on how you can work together in your families to help your child reach their full potential, have the right mindset, and achieve their goals. Ed Has been a part of the Lurgio Middle School Stand By Me program from it's beginning and his programs have always received rave reviews. This program, geared to middle school families, will take place on April 11th in the BHS Theater 6:30 - 7:30p.m.. Save the date for this energetic and inspiring program!  
COLOR BLAST 5K Fun run/walk, Sunday, June 4th @ 10:00a.m.
The PTG is excited to announce that registration for our first annual ColorBlast 5K Run/Walk is open! Register today and mark your calendar for a super-fun, family event! Not a runner? That’s OK. You can walk, skip, hop, twirl, dance or stroll your way through six color stations along the 5K route that starts at Lurgio Middle school on the BHS/RAL campus. Be sure to wear white for maximum color affect (you will be blasted with food safe colorful powder). All funds raised from this event will go back into our schools!
