From the Principal:

Attention 8th Grade Parents
The 8th Grade Parent Information Night has been rescheduled to May 22nd, at 6:00pm in the BHS theater. This is an opportunity for the parents of rising 9th graders to hear about life as a ninth grader and ask questions about the high school experience.

Krispy Kreme Fundraiser
Do you love Krispy Kreme doughnuts? Do you wish there was one in NH? You're in luck! The BHS Prom Committee is selling dozens of the Original Glazed for $10 a box at the Town Elections on Tuesday, March 14th (7am-7pm) in the BHS Gym. You can reserve your dozen here, or purchase them at the door. Thank you in advance for your support!

Bedford Community Hall of Fame
The Bedford Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations for induction into the newly formed Bedford Hall of Fame. This is your opportunity to recognize those individuals who have made a positive impact on yourself, your family, your children and your community.  Graduates, Teachers and Bedford Community members are eligible for consideration into the HOF.  Nominations are due in May 2017. Please Vote next Tuesday - March 14
All eligible citizens are urged to vote in the Bedford School District and Town Council Elections.  They will be held on March 14, 2017 from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM in the Bedford High School Gymnasium.  The Town Meeting is the next night, March 15th, in the Bedford High School Theater at 7:00 PM.  HERE is the Bedford School Board’s Voter Guide, and HERE is the information for filing an absentee ballot for those unable to be present on the day of the vote.

Lost and Found
Parents, Students, and Staff, If you have lost something be sure to check the lost and found!
  • If you have lost clothing, coats, bags, books, etc. please look in the bins located by the concession stand in the Gym hall.
  • If you have lost smaller items such as a wallet, keys, calculator or phone stop in the main office and we will assist you.

DEADLINE EXTENDED!!!
Advanced Placement exams will take place in the first two weeks of May. Any students wishing to take an AP exam must register with the Counseling Office by Friday, March 10th or ASAP! Students must complete this form:
All checks should be made out to “BHS” and dropped off in the Counseling Office. Any students who are struggling to make the payment are encouraged to speak with his or her school counselor or meet with Mrs. Blaney.

Come to the BHS Theater on Tuesday, March 21st to view Screenagers as part of this year’s Social Media Savvy initiative. Screenagers will be shown in the theater, 3/21  from 6-9 pm.-winning.   SCREENAGERS probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including the director's own, and depicts messy struggles, over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through surprising insights from authors and brain scientists solutions emerge on how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world.

From the Library:
Visit the library website for ALL yearbook information.
  • Yearbooks can no longer be ordered online. There have been a limited number ordered for purchase in the library. They are first come, first serve. $75 check or cash can be brought to the library to secure a 2017 yearbook.
  • Log into your library account anytime with your student ID and password to check your account.

From the IB Coordinator:
Exam Update:
We are continuing to upload written assignments for some Exam-terminus IB classes as well as Extended Essays for Diploma Candidates.  Students and parents should be advised to check their email regularly to make sure that no uploading deadlines are missed!  Just as a reminder the Exam Schedule is posted on the IB at BHS website under the Exam information tab.
From the Deans:
March 9th 7pm. BHS theater- Band Project (a concert with Lurgio 8th graders and high school mentors) will perform along with the BHS Jazz band.

Seniors and Senior parents:  There are several items due on March 24 for your senior project, but don’t wait until then. Take this week to reflect on where you are in your AOK, and if there is anything you can do to move forward.  Remember to take pictures, screenshots, video of yourself at work and upload to your SPOP!

Student Activities:
Screenagers will be shown in the theater, 3/21  from 6-9 pm.
The robotics team, Red Storm, will host a FIRST Robotics competition March 24-26.

In Sports:
Our Winter sports season has been exciting!  Unified Basketball for the first time in their program history made it to the NHIAA playoffs 2nd round!  Boys Basketball is competing their way through the playoffs.  Girls’ Basketball, Ice Hockey, and Spirit compete for their championships this weekend -  Good Luck Bulldogs!
The Winter Awards Ceremony is Monday, March 20 @ 6:30pm for pizza dinner.  Ceremony starts promptly in the Theatre @ 7:05.  Everyone is welcome to join us.
The first day of Spring sport tryouts is Monday, March 20.
Spring sport athletes attended their coaches pre-season meeting on Wednesday and were notified about their status of concussion testing.  Outdoor Track is the only program that would not need to take concussion test(s) - except for pole vaulters.
Paperwork for Spring sports is completed online, printed out, and hand-delivered to Mrs. Romano on corresponding due dates by sport.  Paperwork that is handwritten will not be accepted.

Democracy in Action
Organization: Town of Bedford, Office of the Town Clerk
Description: The Town Clerk needs students to help with set-up, break down and support at the polls during the town election.
Date: March 14th, 2017

Community Service
Organization: BHS Light it Up BLUE Crew
Description: Join the school-wide effort to plan an amazing Autism Awareness Day here at Bedford High School by attending the first committee meeting!

Community Service
Organization: Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), Greater Manchester
Description: Join the Kids’ Fun Committee and Volunteering at NH PMC Kids Ride. Volunteers are needed to both plan and help out at the event. Activities to include helmet decorating, face painting, photo booth, etc. The Fun Committee will plan and coordinate the activities!!
Dates: Intial planning meeting March 20th, 2017 at 2:40 in the BHS College and Career Center
    Kids Ride Event: June 4th, 2017 7am-1pm (including set-up/break down)
