BHS News

BHS NEWS

From The Superintendent:

Fee/Cost Study Report
In December, the District asked parents to complete a survey on the fees and costs paid by parents to support school activities.  We want to thank all of you who completed the survey, and we want to thank every one of you who helps support our schools and our students.  By one measure, parents provide about $1.2 million in financial  support to our schools each year.  That is a huge help!  If you want to read the full report, you can access it here.

Text Messaging Reminder
On January 16th, we will be implementing the text messaging option of our emergency communication system. Once the system is live, you will be invited via a text message to opt into receiving future text messages from the district. The invitation text message will read: “Bedford School District text messages. Reply Y for aprx 3 msgs/mo. Txt HELP 4info. Msg&data rates may apply. See schoolmessenger.com/tm"  We want to use text message services effectively so we will be implementing it carefully.
If your cell phone number has changed, you may update it through the Powerschool parent portal.  Follow the "demographic change" link.

YEARBOOK NEWS
The deadline to purchase a recognition ad for seniors for the yearbook is 1/30/15. Recognition ads can be created and paid for online, parents can go to the Yearbook page on the BHS Library website.

Parent Conferences:
The high school semester two Parent Conferences will be held on two dates.  The first session will be on January 27th, from 3:00pm to 6:30 pm.  The second session will be held on February 10th, from 5:00pm until 8:30 pm.  Parents will be able to go to the quick link on the left side of our web-page to schedule meetings.  The portal will be opening for Parent signups on Saturday (1/17/2015) at 8am. The portal will remain open until (1/24/15).  Conferences will be ten minutes in length as has been the case.  This is a modification of our past conference format. The modified format ensures that all staff are on sight at the same time in hopes that this will be more convenient for parents by providing fewer trips to school. The dates are set so that we are not running conferences in conflict with the middle school.

Community Senator Needed:
The purpose of the Bedford High School Community Senate is to be a catalyst for effective communications between stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, community members, administrators and school board members) and policy decision-makers. The Community Senate is an advisory body dedicated to influencing decisions and listening to the voices of all vested parties.
We are seeking one member of the community to serve a two-year term on the Senate.  The Senate meets in the evening (5:30 to 6:30pm) once per month throughout the year.  If you are interested please complete the application found at http://www.sau25.net/files/317551/communitysenateapplication.pdf and send to hagenw@sau25.net by January 31st.  The Senate will complete the review applications and select the candidate in their February meeting.
