Principal's Newsletter 2/18/12

Counseling News

• Individual NECAP results from the Fall Administration are in the mail on their
way home to parents and students.
• Beginning next week, the Counseling Department will be releasing the details
on signing up for Advanced Placement test registration.
• The clock is ticking away for Senior students to achieve all of their RWL hours
for graduation. Individual RWL reports for Seniors were recently delivered with
Report Cards through Advisory. Please check in with your student to ensure that
they are on-track!
• College decisions are pouring in - please remember to bring a copy of your
letters of acceptance/denial to the Counseling office. Each year, BHS reports to
the School Board and community on the success of our graduates. Collection of
letters ensures accurate data for Bedford residents!

Spirit Week
Students and staff have participated in a "spirited" week which culminates today in a
school-wide pep rally. School spirit is high as the class colors are visible everywhere!
Big wins over Souhegan HS last night was a fitting close to the week!
School App
The link below is intended to help you with a "one stop" way to access all of the BHS online
info. Powerschool will soon be added to the App. You may need to copy and paste
the link in the address window.

Clarification in School Handbook
By way of explanation, prohibitions for possessing drug paraphernalia and look-alikes
were not clearly stated for students in the previous Handbook edition and to be fair to
students, they needed to be put into the Handbook. Advisors will be reading through the
clarifying text in Advisory periods so all students are knowledgeable about the additional
clarification.

The new text reads:
In addition to BSD Policy JICH, Bedford High School prohibits the
possession of drug paraphernalia (any instrument or implement or
combination adapted for administration of controlled substances) or drug
look-alikes (e.g. spice, K2, synthetic pot). Students in possession of drug
paraphernalia or look-alikes can expect out-of-school suspension, possible
legal action and/or expulsion.--

The BHS Math Team will host the American Mathematical Competitions here at BHS
on February 22, 2012. Students may take the AMC 10 or the AMC 12, and there are 30

students will be excused from class, but must make up any missed work and turn in work
that is due that day. Students will be able to register in the Counseling Office
from February 10, through February 17.

On February 16th all Intersession balances are due. Intersession coordinators will be
meeting with their groups for the purpose of collecting remaining balances. If you have
any questions you may contact your son or daughter's Intersession coordinator or the
