Take Back Program

Bedford NH
Take Back Program

The Students Against Destructive Decisions at Bedford High School urge students and families to take part in a nationwide effort to reduce abuse of prescription drugs. New Hampshire is taking part in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in several areas within the state. People can dispose of their unwanted or expired medication (including pain killers) safely, without worry of environmental issues or misuse of the drug.

According to 2010 data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, prescription drugs are the now the most commonly abused drugs among kids 12-13 second to marijuana use by adults. Results from the 2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health: Summary of National Findings indicate, two-thirds (65 percent) of teens who report abuse of prescription medicine are getting them from friends, family and acquaintances.

Be aware, protect your loved ones, and be proactive. Share with your kids your own feelings about illegal drug use and take part in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday September 29, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Bedford Public Safety complex.
