Take Back Program

Bedford NH
Take Back Program

The Students Against Destructive Decisions at Bedford High School urge students and families to take part in a nationwide effort to reduce abuse of prescription drugs. New Hampshire is taking part in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in several areas within the state. People can dispose of their unwanted or expired medication (including pain killers) safely, without worry of environmental issues or misuse of the drug.

According to 2010 data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, prescription drugs are the now the most commonly abused drugs among kids 12-13 second to marijuana use by adults. Results from the 2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health: Summary of National Findings indicate, two-thirds (65 percent) of teens who report abuse of prescription medicine are getting them from friends, family and acquaintances.

Be aware, protect your loved ones, and be proactive. Share with your kids your own feelings about illegal drug use and take part in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday September 29, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Bedford Public Safety complex.

NECAPS Testing & School Picutres

It is that time of year again!  Next week we will begin testing members of our Junior class in Mathematics, Reading, and Writing for the 2012-2013 NECAP (New England Common Assessment Program).

The New England Common Assessment Program is one of the important tools available to parents and educators to determine how well our schools are helping students meet standards and grade level expectations. In every assessment, scores are only as meaningful as the effort students put into the tests. Encourage your child to take the tests seriously and to give his or her best effort. You can best help your child prepare for the assessment by making sure that she or he is rested on the days the tests will be given. And, as with every day, it is critical that students have a good breakfast before heading off to school. Thank you for supporting your child and our school during the testing period.

Testing is mandatory for all juniors and they will be required to report to the gymnasium by 7:50am in order to be seated for the administration to begin promptly at 7:55am.  It is also important to note that Late Arrival for all Junior students on 10/3 and 10/4 is cancelled.  Also, early dismissal on Wednesday 10/10 is cancelled due to the reverse order of the school day.

Open House has been rescheduled to October 3rd

Good morning,

Scheduling the various events that happen at the high school can be quite a challenge.   We spent a great deal of energy when initially scheduling our calendar to consider and respect that other organizations, groups, activities, and events happen outside of BHS.  However, when attempting to avoid holding more than one Open-House on the same evening this year, we scheduled the BHS Open-House on Tuesday evening (Sept. 18).   In doing so, we inadvertently scheduled it on an important Jewish holiday.  For this reason we are rescheduling our Open-House to October 3rd, at 6:30 pm.  I appreciate your flexibility and patience with this change in date and hope to see you all there!
